Artistic Methodology

Pandolfini’s methodology is experimental and process-driven, blending techniques from both fine art and craft. Trained in sculpture, painting, and textile design, she employs a wide range of methods including drawing, watercolor, painting, silkscreen printing, hand-painting on fabric, block printing, natural dyeing, and digital pattern design. By layering these techniques, she achieves rich textures and intricate surfaces. It is not unusual for her to mix media within a single work—for example, combining acrylic pigments with fabric dyes, or stitching natural fibers and paper onto canvas. This hands-on experimentation is central to her way of working.

In her recent works, particularly since the Hamburg Gardens project (2024), Pandolfini has deepened her passion for watercolor, applying it primarily on textiles of varied textures and weights. This exploration marked a new chapter in her practice, where the fluidity and transparency of watercolor became a means to express her fascination with gardens, plants, and botanical imagination. She now focuses increasingly on the subtle gradations and intuitive hues that emerge from this medium colors inspired by history, literature, and her research into rare and symbolic plant species. Through watercolor, she reinterprets natural forms through imagination and instinct, allowing color itself to become a language of emotional resonance.

Color, for Pandolfini, holds an almost synesthetic presence. Each hue carries its own emotional and sensory vibration: green evokes calm and renewal; blue embodies depth, sea, and breath; burgundy and red channel sensuality and passion; violet recalls orchids and introspection; pink conveys delicacy and tenderness; yellow mirrors sunlight in its shifting moods. These palettes emerge intuitively in her process, translating emotion into visual rhythm.

A hallmark of her approach is the focus on process as meaning. She observes that deep engagement with making art can be therapeutic, both for herself and her workshop participants. Her methodology emphasizes exploration, play, and sensory engagement over rigid planning. Each project becomes a dialogue between concept and material, guided by emotion and intuition.

Quality craftsmanship underpins her work. Having designed luxury bespoke textiles, she is meticulous about material integrity and detail. She favors high-quality natural fabrics, environmentally friendly pigments, and careful finishing. Each piece reflects a harmony of skill and inspiration, revealing the tangible sense of the artist’s touch.
