Margherita Pandolfini is an Italian painter, textile and conceptual artist, based between Florence.and Paris .Born in 1977, she is descendant of one of the most important Florentine noble families. She grew up in different cities , such as Buenos Aires, New York, Barcelona, Madrid and London, where she trained in sculpture and painting at Camberwell College of Arts in London .
Her first artworks draw inspiration from a series of unconventional objects, materials that include food and rotting matter. Objects that have a limited duration, such as food or flowers, amongst other materials have been seen by Margherita as a huge source of inspiration.
In the last few years she has worked, and she still works, as a textile designer and co founder of ‘La Serra MK Textile Atelier’, which is a textile studio in a beautiful greenhouse.Designing and creating unique, limited-edition textiles for the home, where Margherita and her business partner Karl Jorns focus on bespoke designs and they also organise workshops events.
Alongside her collaboration with Karl, Margherita created a series of mixed-media wall hangings which explore the use of material, color, natural form and organic matter. She enjoyed experimenting with different designs, materials and patterns .Even if her desire is to maintain a very active role in La Serra MK, after many years of working within a partnership, she decided to return to her “fine art” roots in order to express something more personal, and explore more personal themes. Having strengthened her skills in hand painting and mixed media textile techniques she is ready to bring her knowledge on a new project which will be developed as a solo artist. Among her future independent projects, we find her desire to create a series of works that can mix the latest techniques used in the textile world, with her knowledge of designer and artist.
All the projects produced and developed under La Serra MK , have been thought through and created as artworks by Margherita as well as the brand and ethos behind the brand . Since 2019 has been exhibiting her work in unconventional spaces , in Italy , France and Spain .
More recently she has started to develop a new experimental project called Naturalia a fusion between Art Therapy and creative workshops, which takes the form of a multi sensory experience . Where participants express their emotions through art to find release and healing . Its an experience that takes element from Art therapy and her own process of working .
